New Legislation has Potential to Stabilize the Workforce and Reduce Turnover

Coalition Partners Provide Crucial Information to Lawmakers in Trenton

TRENTON March 10, 2025 — The Assembly Children, Families & Food Security Committee held a hearing on a bill (A2291) that would help child care educators pay for their own children’s care by expanding eligibility for the state’s Child Care Assistance Program. Coalition partners including Advocates for Children of New Jersey, Center for Women and Work, New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children, and New Jersey Citizen Action showed up to support the bill, and many, including child care providers, offered testimony highlighting the legislation’s potential to stabilize the workforce and reduce turnover in licensed child care settings. Thanks to these efforts, the Committee voted to release the bill for consideration by the full Assembly.
