Background:
We often hear that child care is in crisis: families can’t afford it, and the workforce can’t afford to stay. For early childhood centers — especially those serving infants and toddlers — attracting and retaining qualified staff remains a persistent challenge. This session will feature speakers from the New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) and the New Jersey Department of Human Services (NJDHS), who will share insights into the NJ Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship Pilot Program — a promising initiative designed to strengthen the child care workforce through training, mentorship, and career pathways. Join us to learn more, connect with others, and explore what’s possible for New Jersey’s families, providers, and child care infrastructure.
Guest Speakers:
Holly Low, Director of Strategic Outreach & Partnerships, NJDOL
Colleen Hicks, Manager of Quality Initiatives, NJDHS
